Upon
returning to Alamo from an out-of-state assignment, we decided
to remodel our Westside home and significantly expand the square
footage. With architect's drawings, we bid the construction job
to four well-known and regarded local contractors. We selected
Geranen Homes because of the quality of their bid, our personal
interview with Mark, and rave reviews from previous clients. The
Geranen bid was by far the most-detailed and was price competitive
with the other three bidders. Throughout the construction, the
Geranen bid served as the working document for the project, something
that would not have been possible with any of the other three
bids, all of which were much more general. There was absolutely
no additional work performed without an explicit change order
submitted to me prior to any additional costs being incurred,
explained and discussed with me by either Mark or Dayton, and
then only with my express written approval.
The
knowledge that Mark and Dayton brought to the job and the quality
of their crews made all the difference in the project. One or
both of the Geranens were at the job site at all times that
work was being performed. Their relationships with other contractors
and our architect were exemplary. Their recommendations on how
to deal with problems that arose were invariably adopted, by
both our architect and us. They know first-rate subcontractors,
when needed, and the performance of their recommended subcontractors
was excellent. The entire nine-month construction was completed
on-time and, except for owner-requested changes, on budget.
I
can whole-heartedly recommend Geranen construction for any project,
of any size. The quality of the work they performed on our project
is second-to-none I have seen and we continue to receive kudos
from visitors for the beauty of the remodel; kudos that really
belong to Geranen construction.
I
know I've mentioned this to you before but it bears repeating
(because writing the testimonial has brought back such great memories
of a project I sorely dreaded!). In speaking with people all over
the world, literally, about home remodeling projects, Linda and
I are among a select few who can honestly say that our experience
with our contractor could not have been improved. Every time I
look at the ceiling in our family room (which I'm sure you don't
remember), I recall sitting with Dayton on the kitchen floor and
having him sketch on the floor his ideas for dealing with a cathedral
ceiling that we didn't want to carry-over into the new design.
People still freak out (positively, of course) over the innovative
way you guys dealt with that problem. The integrity and pride
with which you deal with your clients is the key to your success.
